The ArcelorMittal Orbit Slide
The ArcelorMittal Orbit was built as part of the commemoration of the London 2012 Olympic Games and has been attracting visitors and tourists since it was first installed in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park but it has something completely new to offer this summer. It is now home to the worlds highest and longest tunnel slide; allowing visitors to climb up 178 m before taking a 40 second trip down to the bottom again. The experience includes circling the ArcelorMittal Orbit 12 times before ending with a 50m straight run at the very end. This is definitely something worth trying out this summer and don’t forget to enjoy the stunning views across London before you make your descent.
Dream Jar Trail
Something very special has landed in London for 2016 to coincide with the release of the new BFG film. Dotted all across the city you will find dream jars which have been designed by various celebrities and well known figures. There are 50 jars to find which means that whichever Montcalm hotel London you choose to stay in, you should easily be able to pick up the trail and begin exploring.
The New Tate Modern
In June this year a new addition to the Tate Modern collection was opened; known as The Switch House it stands at 10 storeys and offers visitors the chance to see an extra 60% of art work. The unique, twisting shape of the building is attraction enough, as are the works of art contained within but additionally the view offered from the 10th floor is very special indeed with a panoramic view across the city including the River Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral and the London skyline itself.
Notting Hill Carnival
Now in it’s 52nd year, the Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration which takes place on the August bank holiday and is Europe’s biggest street party. It brings together the Caribbean community and entertains thousands with music, dancing, entertainment and food. It is an absolutely fascinating, one of a kind experience to take part in and is a very popular event in the city with a large number of tourists coming just to take part in the carnival itself. However, don’t let that put you off as being part of such a fantastic crowd only adds to the party atmosphere and helps to create the carnival we all know and love.
