Lovers of toe-tapping musicals with melodic chorus lines and those with a passion for high drama staying at our Montcalm hotels have plenty to look forward to this September. Here, we’ve compiled a list of our top theatre picks coming to the West End soon…

Come from Away

The Phoenix Theatre

Following the story of 7,000 residents stranded in a small Canadian town following the 9/11 attacks, Come from Away is a surprisingly upbeat musical from Irene Sankoff and David Hein.

Having received rave reviews following a stint on Broadway, the musical premieres at The Phoenix in London’s glamorous West End and provides a positive, heart-warming and uplifting theatrical experience that shows the kindness of the town’s residents in the wake of such a horrifying tragedy.

Filled with a wonderful musical score, the production celebrates the residents living in the town at the time and has picked up several awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score of a Musical and Best Direction of a Musical.

With an all-star cast plucked from the top talent of the Phoenix Theatre, those staying at The Marble Arch by Montcalm London will leave the theatre feeling inspired and uplifted.

To reach the Phoenix Theatre from our hotels in Shoreditch, just hop on the Tube using the Central line, and you’ll reach your destination in just twenty-five minutes.

Disney’s The Lion King

Lyceum Theatre

Featuring sensational scenery and an amazing wardrobe, this is the Lion King as you’ve never seen it before.

An amazing experience for theatre-goers of all ages, this production of Disney’s Lion King features all of the sing-along favourites from the film, a vibrant and energetic cast and one of the most spectacular theatrical worlds created to invite visitors into the wild and wonder Serengeti Plains.

A perfect introduction to the world of theatre for little ones, even the adults staying at our Montcalm hotels won’t be able to resist joining in with some of the songs that the story has become so famous for.

To reach the Lyceum theatre from the Montcalm Marble Arch London, simply take the Central Tube line from Marble Arch station, and you’ll arrive at Holborn station in just thirteen minutes. From there, it’s a three-minute walk to the theatre, making it a perfect family-friendly afternoon out that the whole family will enjoy.

The Book of Mormon

The Prince of Wales Theatre

Winner of four 2014 Olivier Awards, The Book of Mormon is a great night out for couples enjoying one of our spa breaks London or even a group of friends staying at our Shoreditch hotels.

Certainly a show for the adults, this quirky comedy by the creators of hit animated series South Park charts the progress of two Mormon missionaries who travel to Africa to preach their religion with hilarious results.

A real rolling in the aisles production, the musical score includes comedy gold songs such as “All American Prophet”, “I Believe” and “I Am Africa” along with exciting choreography to keep your eyes glued to the stage all the way through the performance.

To reach the theatre, head to Liverpool Street station and take the central line Tube to Holborn station and then it’s a short stroll to the theatre. As the Tube line connects the two stations every three minutes, why not spend a few hours soaking up the atmosphere of the West End before heading back to your hotel later in the evening?

If you’ve enjoyed a night on the tiles after the performance, our spa breaks London can help revive those tired eyes and dancing feet, so don’t worry if plan to enjoy a few late nights during your time in the city.

The Mousetrap

St. Martin’s Theatre

One of the best things about a visit to the West End is that it’s just a short Tube ride away from many of our Montcalm hotels, meaning you can quite easily enjoy more than one show during your stay.

If you’re a fan of murder mysteries or feel like an evening of intrigue, then The Mousetrap from thriller writing legend Agatha Christie is not to be missed during your stay at The Montcalm Marble Arch London.

Now entering its 65th year on stage, this ‘whodunnit’ production has been delighting visitors to the West End for decades and is the reason that many people flock to London each year for an evening of mystery and suspense when enjoying one of our spa breaks London.

Set in a remote rural area, a killer is on the loose with deadly intent to carry out their grizzly agenda. With several suspicious characters with complicated pasts that are yet to be revealed, the plot builds to a nerve-shattering crescendo and a finale that will have the entire audience in awe of Christie’s plot skills.

Getting to St. Martin’s Theatre is easy from the Montcalm Marble Arch London as the Tube station is located just a few moments’ walk away, so don’t be afraid to dress up for the occasion. Many Christie fans don 1920’s attire for the performance.

Take the Central line from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court Road station and then it’s just a short walk into the heart of the West End to find the theatre.

The journey should take you no longer than 15 minutes, so make sure that you stop off at the hotel bar for a tasty cocktail and delectable dinner before heading off for your evening of world-class entertainment.

Just remember to ask the concierge at your hotel to arrange tickets for you in advance to avoid disappointment as this is one of the longest-running and most popular shows that the West End has to offer.
