Even when you are staying in high-end hotels courtesy of The Montcalm Club Reward Programeveryone wants to embrace their crazy side sometimes! Crazy Golf is a great way to let your hair down and there are a number of options around London to indulge your inner child without ever being far from a classy cocktail at your hotel bar.

Swingers

An easy twenty-minute walk from The Montcalm at The Brewery London Cityyou will find Swingers City at the base of the iconic Gherkin. There are two fantastically whacky nine-hole courses at this branch, a range of street food vendors serving all the favourites like wood-fired pizza and burgers, as well as the kind of cocktails that can only enhance your putting skills. Make like a boozy Tommy Fleetwood and show your friends what you are made of on the mini-golf course.

Same concept, different location: Swingers West End is right in the centre of the city, perfect for those staying at Montcalm Marble Arch, or even just those wanting to explore Central London rather than the east side. 18 holes, over 18’s only – those are the two foundations of this crazy golf venue. Group bookings are possible, making this the perfect activity to do with your friends or colleagues. However, playing with just one other person is a more than suitable option too. Whatever floats your boat… or gets you a hole in one.

Food facilities include Pizza Pilgrims, Patty & Bun and Breddos Tacos, and food vouchers and packages are available for purchase.

Plonk Crazy Golf

This indoor crazy golf course is great for the whole family. The course was designed by a group of film set designers, so you can expect out-of-this-world designs for what is already a crazy, creative, fun-filled activity. These golf courses are plonked all over the city, beacons of action for all. Interestingly, the first course of the chain, which was opened in 2014 in London’s Haggerston, was built from 100% up-cycled materials which were found on the streets of Hackney. Now, there are courses all over the city, from London Zoo to Camden Market (two excellent options). Not to mention, their BYOB policy means the party is non-stop (within reason) and very affordable!

Hungry? No problem. From the Plonk’s weekend bottomless brunch at the Hoxton Clubhouse to the pizza kitchen and two fully stocked bars Islington, you are always covered on the catering front when visiting a Plonk location.

Puttshack

Unlike some of the other crazy golf branches in London who have progressively opened more and more venues, Puttshack only has two London locations, making it extra bespoke when it comes to the courses available. This is not just crazy golf – it is crazier because it is also super tech mini golf. The courses have automatic tracking and scoring as well as interactive leaderboards. Your ball knows it belongs to you and that is how the scores are kept – crazy, right? Think neon lights, vintage props, as well as a prize wheel which promises to make the night even crazier when the prospect of free drinks and other amazing prizes are mixed into the equation.

The menu at Puttshack includes mouthwatering sharing platters, pizzas, burgers, salads, puddings and much more – the worst part about it is how hard it is to choose what to have.

Address: 1 Poultry, EC2R 8EJ (Bank)

Westfield, Ariel Way, W12 7HB (White City)

Price: £2.50 per person, per round (from Mon-Fri before 6pm, the 2nd game is free)

Junkyard Golf Club

The Junkyard Golf Club on Brick Lane was so popular that a new branch has been opened just ten minutes down the road from the original. This new crazy golf course is all about keeping things as weird and wonderful as the original, and some of the holes prove that just by looking at them. Expect UV lights, fully stocked bars and expert golf skills. Oh, and maybe a few fairground freaks and jungle animals, too. The themed courses are fun and different, meaning you are going to want to complete them all: so be sure to clear your evening schedule and dedicate your undivided attention to this wonderfully quirky activity bar.

The food situation follows a simple but practically perfect formula of fairground-style hot dogs, burgers, salted caramel popcorn, slushy drinks and more.

Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, Shoreditch, E1 6QL (old, closing 21 December 2019 but available for group bookings until then)
